The X7 is BMW’s new flagship SUV and will compete against the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLS, the Land Rover Discovery, the Audi Q7 and the Volvo XC90. It will be positioned above the BMW X5. In terms of design, the X7 has the same typical BMW mould with the kidney-grille up front and the twin-barrel LED headlamps and its signature rings around them. The hood sits high on this colossal SUV making it more aggressive and giving it a better road presence. The tail of the X7 will share many of its looks with the design of other BMW cars, you’ll find LED rear lights with a chrome bar that connects both
the tail lights just like you see them on the flagship sedan offered by BMW – the 7 Series. The car sits on massive 22 incher's making it look less like an SUV and rather a BMW labelled Juggernaut.
Inside, the X7 gets all you would expect a car in its league and beyond, like massaging seats, separate zone climate control and panoramic sunroof. The interior will be premium and upholstered in leather with power seats in the front and foldable split seats in the back. It will get the latest iDrive interface that helps set up the car in which ever way you want, ambient lighting and other settings with a unique controller for the passenger. The BMW X7 will be a seven seater SUV, a first for BMW. The new BMW X7 can also be opted in a six seater configuration. The X7 also features a unique self-levelling air suspension system, with a double-wishbone front suspension and multi-link rear suspension. It can be raised or lowered by 40 mm (1.6 in) and will automatically lower the car by 20 mm (0.8 in) at speeds of over 138 km/h (86 mph). The boot capacity is 326 litres, and 2,120 litres with the seats folded down.
For the Indian market, the X7 will be offered in m50d model. This means a 3.0-litre inline-six diesel motor which produces 400bhp/760Nm of torque. There’s an eight-speed auto and xDrive AWD system which comes with this engine. A petrol variant may also be on the choice later on and we might get both, the 300bhp 3.0-litre straight-six and the 444bhp 4.4-litre V8, which means that the X7 will be quite fast and its numbers tell you that.
We can expect the X7 to be priced between Rs 80 lakhs to Rs 1.2 crores, ex-showroom, Delhi. Which means it is little on the expensive side when compared to its rivals but SUV is bang on and has nothing to be complained about.
