Citroën, after 100 years have decided to start sales in India by their SUV called the C5 Aircross.
The Citroën C5 Aircross is an urban SUV from the french automaker and will be competing against other SUV’s like the Hyundai Tucson, Jeep Compass, Audi Q2, Mercedes-Benz GLA and others once launched in India. The promising car is all set to make its mark in India anywhere in 2021. Following the C5 Aircross, there are other cars in Citroën’s line up to be launched in India. The fate of Citroën in India is wholly and solely dependent on their advertising and pricing, which many tend to fail in. The beauty of Citroën lies within their design, all the cars have an exceptional design statement making their cars look more futuristic and stylish.
In terms of dimensions, the vehicle measures 4,500 mm in length, 1,840 mm in width and 1,670 mm in height. As compared to the Tucson, the C5 Aircross is 25 mm longer, is 10 mm taller and is about 60 mm longer. The vehicle will features distinctive split headlamp design on the front along with short designs at the front and rear. The vehicle will get a masculine bonnet and a sweeping grille for a sporty stance. The C5 Crosser is as stunning looking as it can get, with those red treatment given here and there all across the car and also bringing in the chrome inserts wherever necessary. Citroën has done a tremendous job in designing the C5 Crosser.
The C5 Aircross will be offered with premium leather upholstery and a large dashboard where sits a large eight-inch infotainment screen in the centre and multiple vertically stacked rectangular shaped AC vents. At the time of launch, the SUV will get safety features in form of multiple airbags, blind spot assist, hill-hold assist, traffic detection and more. It will have all luxury goodies expected from a car of this price tag and you can only expect more. The only thing that could have been avoided was the boxy-ness inside the cabin, everything is in the shape of a box from the inner steering panel to the AC vents. The centre console is tough, huge and stylish giving it a premium and rugged feel.
The Citroen C5 Aircross will be available with a wide range of petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol variant is powered by a 1.2-litre engine that produces 128bhp and a 1.5-litre diesel that generates 128bhp of power. There is also a larger 2.0-litre diesel on offer that produces 178bhp of power. The SUV is available with a six-speed manual and eight-speed automatic options. For a compact SUV the figures look promising but only time will tell whether the power delivery on road will be adequate or not for this car.
The Citroën C5 Aircross will be expected to launch In India with a price tag of almost Rs.25 Lakhs, making it a bit on the expensive side for a no history car in India.
